And So Ends Julianuary--Nathan Barley and Fanfiction

Okay, I admit, I'm a bit fascinated by Nathan Barley. I can't explain why, except maybe it was so short lived and yet we learned (or thought we learned) so much about the characters. I love Dan's spiral downward. I love how Jones is only on screen for about 10 minutes of the total 3 or so hours and yet he's such an intrinsic character. I simply love Ayoade any time, any where. And I love the fanfiction that has come out of it. (Want to read a well written one? Try Out by littleredchucks-- it's my favorite! And then Mosiac. And then there is Click-Track Heart. Oh, hell, there are too many to list!) Anyway, I'm going to "publish" my first-ever fanfic tomorrow. When I'm trying to write and I go blank, I write bits and pieces of Dan/Jones and Light in the Dark is the only one that is actually complete. Short, when compared to the others, at only 1400 words. But I'm rather happy with the end result.

2009

Have I posted this before? I don't remember reading it, so maybe not. Anyway an old interview from August, 2009 when Noel and Julian came to the US and went to Comic Con, but first they spent time in New York City. And this interview happened at Impose. Sometimes we forget how many ways Vince and Howard reflect Noel and Julian! (okay, no, we probably don't!)

I have absolutely no idea where or when, but what a great photo for our Julianuary!

Something Old Or Something New?

From Mercedes Grower's Instagram-- The Film "Brakes". Remember, Noel had to change tour dates because of "filming". So I got all atwitter when I saw this. And then someone said something about 2010. Except, she did post several pictures on the 22nd and Noel did mention a scheduling conflict because of filming. So, I'm going to assume this is something happening now. Anyway, maybe the when is moot. Let's just enjoy the picture!

Journey Of The Childmen Screening

From the New York Screening of Journey of the Childmen, June 12, 2010 with Ollie Ralf, photos by Tammy Clark on flickr. There's a nice collection. A big thank you to every fan who ever posts pictures of these two for those of us who never get to be there!

Barbarella (1968) Trailer

Although this movie wasn't an obsession on it's own, I went through a faze in High School and during my college years when I obsessed with anything from the late '60s and early '70s, including this bit of camp that I'm sure had/has a cult following, as it well deserves!

Because I Can't Get Enough of Interviews

A bit long, so read it when you have time. I think Noel did the interview when he was doing his publicity interviews for the tour, but it was just recently published. Noctis Magazine pages 82-89

A Pocket Full of Color

An article at Booshstroke that features a handful of Noel's artwork and quotes about each piece. I don't believe it's an interview, but if you like his art, it's a nice little companion piece to an interview that has a link at the bottom of the page.

Fashion Watch

I absolutely love Noel's sparkly shirts. There is that green one from a few years ago, I'm always on the watch for one like it. And now this one. Another one to look for.

Yes, It's Another Review!

Another review of An Evening With Noel Fielding, just because I love to read reviews of things I'll never get to see!

I should have posted this closer to Christmas, but somehow it got pushed into the back corner of my archives. So I'm bringing it out today. I really think this is one of my very favorite things...

Bat Man

I'm very tired tonight, so I'll just post this picture of Noel from his recent tour and enjoy the glitter of it all. A touch of sunshine when we can't seem to get any!

Throw Back Thursday: The Beatles

My High School and College obsession was the Beatles. Like the Boosh now, at the time I read and collected every thing Beatles that I could get my hands on. Therefore, they are my Throw Back Obsession of the day!

The Goth Detectives Return!

The Big Fat Quiz celebrated its 10th anniversary with a stellar panel, including our favorite Goth Detectives! The other panelists consist of Jonathan Ross, Warwick Davis, Jack Whitehall and Claudia Winkelman, and of course hosted by Jimmy Carr. Full episode is here--take a watch, they are all very funny. And of course, Russel and Noel act as you would expect-- like the class clowns that the teacher couldn't do anything with!

Not Safe For Work

Julian is going on the stage again, theater-wise, according to The Velvet Onion. The play will show in late October and November. I'll let you read it yourself here.

Happy New Year

Yes, folks. The Holidays are over, the good moods, the cheery greetings, the colorful decorations and pretty colored lights are all going away to leave us with the drab Reality of winter, which for me means short cold days, waiting for the green of spring. Welcome back, January. Oh... reality.
