8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown S11E01 (13 January 2017)

I'd never watched this show before, and it is rather odd. They need to get Richard Ayoade on the panel, because I just kept thinking about Moss winning on "Coutdown"! It is rather entertaining, even though there is mostly banter and very little "game". Okay, Noel as "Edward" was rather hilarious, but mainly because he is a sparkly vampire, after all!

Argh--so they the video down! Anyway, if you find it, give it a watch. Like I said--odd, but Noel really is funny as Edward!

And it posted! Noel and Richard together are always a treat! And Jonathan and David are teamed up, which is always good for some laughs. Now this is quality T.V.!

The Big Fat Quiz of the Year 2016 (26 December 2016)

So this is with Richard, sans Noel. But they team up in The Big Fat Quiz of everything, which I will hopefully find and post soon!

Mid-Week Flashback

I can never decide if I think this is funny or just, well not so much. Actually, I think it rather is. I'm just not the biggest Matt Barry fan, but it was written with Richard Ayoade and Julian and Noel both have parts. So it has it's redeeming qualities.

"AD/BC is a parody rock opera with music by Matt Berry and lyrics by Matt Berry and Richard Ayoade. It aired on BBC Three in 2004.
The opera is a pastiche of the life-of-Christ rock operas popular in the early 1970s, such as Jesus Christ Superstar and Godspell. Sitting at a piano in the late 70s (1978, several years past the time when Jesus-themed rock operas had been popular), writer Tim Wynde (Matt Berry) introduces his creation as a new telling, "told in rock", of the birth of Christ, this time from the point of view of the Innkeeper."

The Big Fat Quiz Of Everything

There is nothing to say. Noel and Richard together. Brilliant! It's a fabulous panel, across the board. Why can't we have TV like this in the USofA? That's what I want to know.

Big Fat Quiz of the Year 2015

So Bad Dong becomes a thing in this episode of Big Fat Quiz, thanks to Richard Ayoade and Greg Davies. Okay, this is a bit long-- an hour and a half long, but it's a brilliant panel so do what I did, if your time is limited-- I watched it in half hour segments. Funny stuff, as always!

Dynamic Duo

We may have lost Never Mind the Buzzcocks, but at least we still have Big Fat Quiz! And soon we will get to watch the Big Fat Quiz of Everything, and one of our favorite duos will be panelists! That's right, folks, Noel and Richard are at it again. The Velvet Onion doesn't know when it'll air yet, but they'll keep us informed, I'm sure.

Nathan Barley is 10 Years Old

So, I watched the pilot to Nathan Barley and then let it go for probably 6 months. Then finally watched it, and then 6 months later watched it again. And now my OTP is Dan and Jones. So yeah, I might really like it. But somehow I thought it was a few years older--that it pre-dated The Mighty Boosh TV show. Anyway, here's a nice article from Paste about the show and it's relevance, even today. Take a gander here.

And So Ends Julianuary--Nathan Barley and Fanfiction

Okay, I admit, I'm a bit fascinated by Nathan Barley. I can't explain why, except maybe it was so short lived and yet we learned (or thought we learned) so much about the characters. I love Dan's spiral downward. I love how Jones is only on screen for about 10 minutes of the total 3 or so hours and yet he's such an intrinsic character. I simply love Ayoade any time, any where. And I love the fanfiction that has come out of it. (Want to read a well written one? Try Out by littleredchucks-- it's my favorite! And then Mosiac. And then there is Click-Track Heart. Oh, hell, there are too many to list!) Anyway, I'm going to "publish" my first-ever fanfic tomorrow. When I'm trying to write and I go blank, I write bits and pieces of Dan/Jones and Light in the Dark is the only one that is actually complete. Short, when compared to the others, at only 1400 words. But I'm rather happy with the end result.

Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy - Series 2 Behind the Scenes Documentary

I thought I had previously posted this but couldn't find it this morning. So I apologize if I have and just missed it. Anyway, it's the Lux Com 2 documentary filmed by Joe Lynn. I think my favorite part is Dondy Lion and how Noel stays in character (the same with Raymond Boombox). I admit, I have a fondness for "the making of" videos. I love seeing how shows are made and watching the actors as themselves! How fun!

Throw Back Thursday--Richard Ayoade Stand Up!!!

"Ping-pong balls!" (watch for it--you'll miss it if you blink!) I think this is the only stand-up I've ever seen Richard do. I may have to search for some more. The first things I saw him on was IT Crowd and The Mighty Boosh.

Best high speed chase ever put to film!

"I'm sweating now." Noel's guest appearance on Garth Marenghi's Dark Place, playing Monkey Man on the episode "Apes of Wrath" in 2004.
