Natural Habitats Photography Exhibit

A short video that goes with yesterday's picture. Joseph's exhibit features artists and their spaces. Noel and Mercedes were both there.

Edinburgh Celebrates British Films

A nice write-up about Brakes at theartsdesk.com, along with another film, Always, staring Timothy Spall and Juno Temple. The author praises both Julian and Julia's performance, along with Noel and Mercedes', along with the feel of the film: 

"But there’s an honesty about it, a refreshingly anti-romcom spirit, and such humour that I’m expecting more from Grower. Away is released in cinemas in October, and hopefully Brakes will get the break it deserves and follow suit."

More On Brakes

Check out this Velvet Onion interview with Mercedes Grower about the 4-year journey that was the making of Brakes. Although Noel has mentioned it on occasion, I didn't realize it had been in the works for that long, nor how many of the "the gang" were involved. Oliver Ralfe and Joseph Lynn were also included in production. It sounds interesting and I hope the movie gets a chance to be seen.

Brakes

I've seen references to Brakes several times without really ever finding much info about it (it's referred to as a dark comedy). It seems they filmed this quite some time ago (by quite, I mean maybe a couple of years) but it's just now seeing the light of day. I don't know anything about it, except that Noel is in it, and apparently so is Julian, and Julia and Steve Oram. Photos from Brakes' Twitter [X] [X].

Something Old Or Something New?

From Mercedes Grower's Instagram-- The Film "Brakes". Remember, Noel had to change tour dates because of "filming". So I got all atwitter when I saw this. And then someone said something about 2010. Except, she did post several pictures on the 22nd and Noel did mention a scheduling conflict because of filming. So, I'm going to assume this is something happening now. Anyway, maybe the when is moot. Let's just enjoy the picture!
