Why Flowers Was More Than Just Great Television

This review of Flowers is written by Chris Brosnahan on his blog here. I so loved this show and hope one day to buy the box set, but in the mean time, it's nice to see others' opinions of it. I still see it as a drama more than a comedy, no matter how dark it is labeled, but Chris mentions the humor of it. And he's not wrong. It's uncomfortable at times, and heartbreaking, but there is a certain amount of humor, also. Dark, understated humor. I just loved it. 

"Personally, I'm grateful to everyone involved for getting it made. It’s beautiful, it’s heartfelt and it still manages to be incredibly, cruelly, funny. It’s one of the more nuanced depictions of depression that I've seen in some time and I suspect it will help some conversations that people need to have."

Since I've been watching Flowers this week, (And Night Manager!) I've going to post this interview with Olivia and Julian. I think it's so Julian to let Olivia do most of the talking!

More on Flowers

I'm getting really excited about Flowers. They call it a dark comedy, but it doesn't really sound like much of a comedy. Sounds more like a drama. I just hope I get a chance to watch it and see for myself! Read about it here.  [X]

Taking a break from our regular "An Evening With Noel Fielding" schedule to bring you some Julian Barratt news and Flowers! It starts April 25th and runs for 6 consecutive nights on Channel 4. It looks to be quite dark. I can't wait!

Something For 2016

Julian is constantly working, even if we don't hear about it very often. I'm sure I heard rumors about "Flowers" some time ago, but then nothing. And yet here this was in the British Comedy Guide this morning! This really does sound like something that Julian  and Olivia can really stand out in, so hopefully the material is something they can both really work with (and I trust neither would sign up for something that wasn't up to their quality).  It won't broadcast until next year, but I'll try to update as I hear anything new. 

Julian's New Project

 So, Julian is working on a pilot for a show called Flowers. Since I'm short on time, I'm going to let you click the link and read about it yourself. If you don't recognize Olivia Colman, she was Sophie on Peeps. Or at least, that's what I know her from.
